Carol Elaine Pinnock

Carol Elaine Pinnock left a legacy of hope and love for her children. No burden was too much to bear –a true mother- she approached each day of her life with unconditional love for Jolene, Tarik and Chyanna. Through her years of health and even through her years of illness, Carol exemplified independence, courage and determination: all traits that she left with her children, relatives and many friends. Carol Elaine Pinnock, age 54, died at her home in Margate, Florida on Monday, September 19, 2011, following 12 courageous years of battling the chronic autoimmune disease, Lupus, and more recently, kidney failure. Carol was born January 3, 1957, in Morant Bay, St. Thomas, Jamaica, to the late Christopher and Doris (Kelly) Pinnock. She attended Morant Bay All Age School and graduated from Morant Bay High School in 1975. Carol later attended Duff’s Business College in Kingston, Jamaica. She then worked for many years at the Jamaican Gleaner Company. A fervent Christian and consummate scholar, Carol constantly engaged in Christian readings to increase her understanding of God’s purpose for her life. In 1989, Carol migrated to Florida in pursuit of the “American Dream”. A determined woman, she held many jobs that ranged from caring for the sick and elderly, providing customer support in the telecom industry, to eventually owning and operating an office furniture store which successfully met the needs of many businesses for six years. Carol was also passionate about cooking and loved to create new recipes to share with friends. An astute entrepreneur, Carol was always planning for new businesses to pursue; the last of which was Carol’s Kitchen. Unfortunately, Carol passed before being able to see this dream to fruition. Carol leaves to cherish precious memories: her daughter and son-in-law, Jolene and Sean; her son and daughter-in-law, Tarik and Quiana; her daughter, Chyanna; two granddaughters, Kemisi and Lesana; two brothers, Noel “Peter” and Carl “Lincoln”; and three sisters, Patricia “Tootsie”, Fredrica “Kitty” and Lynette. In her last days, Carol found friendship and comfort in the staff of her dialysis treatment center, as well as all the physicians who provided medical care during her illness. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
