Bjorn Ove Lango

Bjorn Ove Lango was born January 31, 1951 in Floro, Norway. He grew up on an island with his parents Ingeborg and Trygve Lango along with his sister Ase. As a child he liked boating and fishing with his dog as a companion. The island was not inhabited by so many people but he often spoke how friends would get together at dances and his father would play accordion in the band. They would also visit each other on Saturday evenings to play cards. Bjorn was proud of the fact that the choir won a competition and got to sing on the radio. Bjorn went to machinist school in Forde which began his career. He worked in the shipyard in Floro, on a fishing boat as a cook and then sailed ten years on Norwegian cargo ships as a repairman. He traveled all over the world, he would be the one with the newest gadgets; camera, recorder, stereo. He even learned how to sew! That, of course, he learned from his mother along with how to cook and create excellent fish meals. His father's guiding hand taught him the marine business. In 1977, we met in Tampa. I had always been infatuated with Norway since I was a child. So, meeting a sweet, good looking man from Norway was a dream come true for me! We married two years later in Miami on May 12, 1979. We decided to start a family and on November 4, 1980, our son Bjorn Barry was born in Miami, Florida. Shortly after the birth of our son we moved to Norway. We built a home and Bjorn was working at what he liked best-- he was the owner and proud operator of a marina on the island of Fanuy. Our daughter Jessica Trine was borno in Floro, Norway on April 9, 1983. We all enjoyed our lives there with his family, sister Ase, brother-in-law Finn and their children Tove, Iren, Kari Ann and Finn Ag'eo. Every summer our family traveled in our boat to many places in Norway. We usually went with friends and and ofter visited other friends and family. In 1990, we returned to the United States and continued to do many of the same things we always enjoyed. We enjoyed raising our children, traveling together, learning at museums, having fun at theme parks and especially the company of family and friends. Throughout his life, Bjorn worked with what he liked best and picked for a career-- ships and engines. Like his father before him, he shared his time and talents in this area with his son and together they built a boat starting from the hull. Bjorn liked his fish, his family and friends, going boating and his dogs and cats. These things were the sweetest enjoyments of his life, but are they not all in this order? The one thing anyone could say about this man:- "There was not one person who met him that did not like him." Everyone could realize the kind heart and gentle soul within. Your memory will live within our hearts forever. Bjorn Ove Lango is now at peace with the Lord. Your loving family misses you dearly.
