Francesca Flora

Francesca Flora, 92, of Tamarac, Florida passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at Boca Regional Hospital in Boca Raton, Fl. She was born in Bitetto, Bari, Italy on Sunday, January 1, 1922. She moved to Florida in 1973 from Brooklyn, New York. While living in New York, Francesca worked as a seamstress and sewed buttons onto Police Uniforms by hand for many years. She was a contributing factor in the success of Flora’s Drive In on NW 79th Street in Miami. She was well known for frying her famous calzones. They were enjoyed for many years by locals and famous celebrities. Francesca was preceded by her loving husband Francesco (Frank) Flora in 2010. She is survived by her loving children Domenica (Tony) Musso, Michael (Domenica) Flora, John (Irene) Flora, Rose (Tony) Farruggia, her brother Peppino (Joe) in Italy, 12 grandchildren: Carla, Anthony, Frank, Joseph, Francesca, Angela, John, Christopher, Natalie, Gabriella, Anthony and Michael and 15 great grandchildren. Francesca will be missed by all that were blessed to have known her. She was a kind, loving mother and grandmother and her famous proverbs that she taught us all will be remembered always. Even though she had Alzheimers, she still managed to keep her sense of humor and always kept us laughing. The family would like to thank all those that helped in the caregiving of Francesca from Natividad, Lucia, Michelle, the staff at Regents Park and the compassionate and professional team of doctors and nurses at Boca Regional Hospital. A Celebration of Life Visitation with Wake Service will take place on Thursday, July 24, 2014 from 2-4 P.M.and 6-8 P.M. at Savino-Weissman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, www.savinofuneralhome.com, located at 2950 North State Road 7, Margate, FL 33063, 954.977-5244. Father Jorge Puerta will officiate a wake service at 7:30 P.M. at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, July 25, 2014 at 11 A.M. at Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church with Father Jorge Puerta officiating, http://www.mhocrc.org/, located at 5980 University Drive, Parkland, Florida 33067 (1st right North of the Sawgrass Expressway). Entombment will follow at the Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery located at 1500 South State Road 7, North Lauderdale, FL 33068.
