Rosa Correa Flores

Rosa Correa Flores, 85, who resided in Coconut Creek, Florida passed away on Saturday, February 19, 2011 at home with her family. She was born on August 30, 1925 in Maunabo, Puerto Rico to Rosalia "Papa" Correa and Clotildes "Mama" Flores. She was the oldest daughter of 19 children. She married at the age of 21 to Carlos Santos Rivera and had her first child at the age of 22. She had 4 children in total. In 1960 she left Puerto Rico and came to Brooklyn, New York on her own with her 4 children. She raised and cared for all of her children on her own. She was a sewing machine operator by trade which is how she provided for her family. She came to Florida in the year 2000 along with her daughter Antonia Santos and lived together with her until the time she passed. We all remember her for many different reasons. One mutual reason I can say that we all remember her for is her unconditional love and devotion she gave to her family and friends. We will all remember her witty comments. We will all remember when we said something wrong that she didn't like she would yell " Que, Que". That's how we knew to run cause we were in trouble. We will all remember as kids when we would fall and hurt ourselves she would say " Ven aqui para pararte". That's how she taught us to be strong and pick ourselves up when we were down. She helped to shape and mold many lives throughout her life. Many of us are the men and woman we are today because of her teachings and guidance. She helped raise her brothers, sisters, grandchildren and even her great grandchildren. We will all remember her whether you are family or friend for many different reasons but the one reason we will all share is how much she loved us and gave to us throughout the years and asked for nothing in return. She is survided by her 4 Siblings: Monica Serna, Maria D. Correa, Francisco Correa and Carmello Correa. 4 Children: Antonia Santos, Candida Santos, Juan Antonio Santos and Jose Ramiro Santos. 12 Grandchildren: Lisandra Cruz Pickerill, Mayra Rosa, Yolando Rosa, Bernice Santos, Yahaira Santos, Elizabeth Santos, Christopher Poventud, Lee Santos, Kevin J. Santos, Geovani Colberg, Xioner Santos and Thomas Santos. 13 Great grandchildren: Kevin P. O'Connell, Justin M. O'Connell, Jessica O'Connell, Christian E. Poventud, Avery Poventud, Geovani A. Colberg III, Michael D. Colberg, Christina M. Colberg, Issac Semidey, Sulymar Semidey, Elimelec Perez, Genesis Santos, Christrian Galvan and the family continues to grow. WE WILL CARRY YOUR LOVE AND MEMORIES WITH US IN OUR HEARTS FOREVER AND EVER.
