Joanna Marie Balzer-Voguit

Joanna Marie Balzer-Voguit, 31, passed away April 26th, 2012 at Northwest Medical Center in Margate, Florida. Joanna was diagnosed with a heart condition in 2006 which would ultimately require transplantation January 2009. While Joanna and her family are eternally grateful for this monumental gift, she suffered from chronic rejection, causing irreversible complications of which proved to be too taxing on her new heart. Joanna was born March 1st, 1981 in Valley Stream, NY to proud parents John and Marilyn Balzer. She and her family later moved to Davie, Florida, where she graduated from Western High School while awaiting her heart transplant, went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in education from Florida Atlantic University. Joanna’s inspirational ways, made her a natural in the classroom and as a cheerleading coach at Ramblewood Middle School in Coral Springs, Florida. While Joanna’s career was important to her, nothing could compare to the love she had for her son David,born March 6th 2004. As a devoted mother, there was nothing she wouldn’t do to make David’s life full of joy and happiness. In 2007, Joanna’s family became complete when she met the love of her life. She married Steven Voguit in a beach ceremony in December 2008. Joanna is survived by her loving husband, Steven Voguit, son, David Hernandez, parents, John and Marilyn Balzer, brother, USAF Staff Sergeant Brian Balzer, sister-in-law USAF Tech Sergeant Christina Balzer,grandmother Caroline Balzer, and countless extended family and friends. In lieu of flowers, a trust fund has been established for David’s education.
